Description
Several years in the past decade or so, the Bow River has breached its banks in the area of the Lake Louise Campground. Evidence suggests that such flooding is occurring more frequently than in the past. The impact of flooding has been partial closure of the Field Unit’s largest campground and inflow into the Village sanitary sewage collection system. If left unchecked, inflow and infiltration could overwhelm pumping stations and the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). In response to this risk Parks Canada installed a temporary earthen berm a few years ago to help control flooding and prevent some of the impacts noted above. The purpose of this project is to replace the temporary earthen berm with an engineered berm. The period of the contract is between May 18, 2015 to June 26, 2015.
