    SCOPE OF WORK 
    
    1.	Removal of eight (8) existing concrete slabs, on the sloped ramp of the boat launch. 
    2.	Inspect the slope fill below the area where slabs were removed. If required, carry out remedial work to the slope using existing slope fill or the addition of new fill material that shall be graded crushed stone with a nominal stone size varying from 30mm to 300mm, or similar approved clean fill containing no fines or particles smaller than 30mm in size. The condition of the slope fill after concrete slab removal must be documented and communicated to the Department Engineer.
    3.	Articulating block mats shall be placed on top of stone fill and filled with concrete as per
    manufacturer’s guidelines to provide slope stabilization, details of the articulating block mat to be used are in the Contract Documents.
    
    4.	Eight (8) new reinforced concrete slabs will be reinstated at the same position as the removed concrete slabs. The contractor is to decide if these new reinforced concrete slabs will be cast-insitu or are precast off-site then delivered to site. If cast-in-situ the position and level of the formwork shall be inspected by and agreed with the Department Representative before pouring. The Contractor shall confirm the final position and level of the reinforced concrete slabs post pour with the Department Representative that they are satisfactory before project sign-off. If precast reinforced concrete slabs are to be used the final position and level must be agreed with the Department Representative before project sign-off.
    All contractors intending to bid are requested to attend the mandatory site examination meeting. This will be the only opportunity to visit the site, examine the drawings and discuss projects details. All contractors attending the site visit will need to present photo identification at the front desk. The site visit will be held at the following date and location, as stated below:
    Interested bidders are invited to meet at Environment Canada, Canada Centre for Inland Waters, 867 Lakeshore Road, Burlington, Ontario, L7R 4A6 on the 8th of July, 2015 at 2:00pm.
    
    Failure to attend the “Site Visit” will result in bidder’s disqualification.
    
      IMPORTANT NOTE TO BIDDERS:  
    Enquiries during the solicitation period shall be addressed only in writing by fax or email to the Contracting Authority named above and must be received no less than five (5) calendar days prior to the closing date stated above."
