    Sealed, signed tenders will be received up to 2:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time: May 30th, 2016 for the attached services in accordance with the documents enclosed.

    This Invitation to Tender Package includes the following:

      All bids bonds are to be submitted in hard copy by the bid closing date and time to the

      mailing address indicated above.

      Any tender received after the above noted time will be considered late and will be returned to the sender unopened. Tenders may be revised by email, letter or fax (613) 991-4545, provided the tender and revision(s) are both received prior to Tender Closing Time.

      Nature of the Work:

      In general, work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    1. Removal of the existing armour stone to accommodate the new work.

    2. Construction of a new treated timber crib wharf, complete with reinforced concrete deck.

    3. Dredging of the harbour bottom, prior to installation of new rock mattress and scour protection.

    4. Supply and installation of mooring cleats, structural timber for coping, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking, fenders, ladders and associated hardware for new wharf construction.

    5. Supply and installation of a new electrical conduit.

    6. Uplands rock and gravel fill placement, topped with granulars.

    7. Supply and installation of rock fill core, filter stone and armour stone.

    Note that Canada will supply the following for this project (to be picked-up by the Contractor at DFO’s warehouse located at 121 Glencoe Drive, Mount Pearl, NL):

    - 550 pieces of 200mm X 200mm crib timbers at 6.1m lengths. Note that the crib timbers supplied by Canada is not a complete list of crib timber required to complete the work.

    - 240 pieces of 100mm X 150mm fenders at 3.6m lengths. Note that the fenders supplied by Canada is not a complete list of fenders required to complete the work.

    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

    Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada will not necessarily accept the lowest or any of the tenders received and reserves the right to reject any and all tenders received which shall be final and at the sole discretion of the Department.
