Description
The scope of work for this project is the provision of construction activities to construct a new launchway as is more specifically described below and in the Drawings and Specifications. The work covered consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for the launchway construction at Black Duck Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.
In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:
- Supply and installation of a new concrete launchway, complete with treated timber cribwork (concrete filled toe crib), as noted on the drawings. Rock removal will be required to seat the cribs at the minimum required elevations, as noted on the drawings.
- Supply and installation of upland granulars to suit the new launchway and to blend with the existing roadway, as noted on the drawings.
- Supply and installation of riprap and treated dimension timber coping, Wheelguard and Wheelguard blocking, as noted on the drawings.
- Underwater concrete bag work associated with the existing marginal wharf, as noted on the drawings.
FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE
Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
