Scope of Work:
Building 7 is the swine complex of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Research and Development Centre located at 2000 College Street in Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke RDC). It is composed of eight (8) sectors (A to H) built in 1996–1997. Sector C is reserved for sow gestation and comprises four (4) rooms (C-101, C-102, C-103 and C-104), each measuring approximately 15 m x 18 m.
Each room in Sector C has a concrete slatted floor that empties into four (4) channels: one (1) channel along each of the east and west walls of the room and two (2) middle channels in the centre of the room. Each channel is covered with a prefabricated concrete slat floor.
Over time, the foundations of the channel sleeper walls upon which the prefabricated slats are laid have eroded and the slats are no longer supported all along the length of the channels. The slats are unstable and are no longer level with each other
The Work involves removing existing concrete slabs from the affected rooms, redoing the foundations of the concrete sleeper walls, installing steel angles and reinstalling existing slabs, and replacing damaged slabs to provide a stable and uniform floor on the entire surface of slatted floors.
