    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCUREMENT:

    Scope of Work

    Works under this contract covers selective shoreline rehabilitation. This contract includes

    shoreline work, erosion control methods, reparations to existing armour stone retaining

    walls (and the addition of new walls), removals of invasive plant material and grading.

    To mitigate negative environmental effects on the terrestrial environment, equipment

    used at site for project construction should be limited to those with rubber tires (not

    tracks). Sedentary wildlife remaining at the site during construction should be

    humanely trapped and relocated; this may require permits.

    The work of this Contract includes, but is not limited to, the following:

    1. Mobilization

    2. Supply and installation silt curtain

    3. Clearing and grubbing of existing vegetation

    4. Pathway cleaning, debris removal, safety pruning

    5. Relocation of existing boulders

    6. Earth excavation and hauling off site

    7. Removal of existing asphalt surface

    8. Excavation of granular subbase (armour stone wall & asphalt)

    9. Supply, mix and installation of angular rip rap

    10. Supply and installation of armour stone wall including re-use of stones

    11. Supply and installation of Granular ‘A’

    12. Supply and installation of two solid 150mm diameter PVC drains and grated caps

    13. Supply and installation of HL3 Asphalt Pathway

    14. Centre line painting

    15. Supply and installation of topsoil and finish grading

    16. Supply and installation of 75mm compost including tilling

    17. Supply and installation of coir erosion control mat

    18. Supply and installation of shrubs

    19. Supply and installation of perennials

    20. Supply and installation of grasses

    21. Supply and installation of ‘Indigo Graminis’ seed mix

    22. Supply and installation of 75mm natural shredded cedar mulch

    23. Painting of steel handrail including preparatory work

    24. Two year plant material and maintenance warranty

    SITE VISIT : A NON MANDATORY site visit will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:30am Ottawa Time. The meeting place will be the NCC Vincent Massey Park parking lot off of Heron Rd, Ottawa, ON. Refer to Google maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/GtkWJ3NscmB2 . All costs incurred by the Bidder to attend the site visit will be at their expense. The NCC will not reimburse any Bidder for expenses related to the site visit. The bidder assumes all responsibility for obtaining sufficient information and hereby certifies that he/she has visited the above site and is fully content and satisfied that he/she has obtained full knowledge of all matters affecting the proper execution and completion of the work described in the specifications and drawings relating to the tender.

    Addendum 1. Another non-mandatory site visit has been scheduled.

Except for the approval of alternative materials as described in GI15 of the General Instructions to Bidders, enquiries should be received no later than five (5) business days prior to the date set for solicitation closing to allow sufficient time to provide a response. Enquiries received after that time may result in an answer not being provided. To ensure consistency and quality of the information provided to Bidders, the Sr. Contract Officer shall examine the content of the enquiry and shall decide whether or not to issue an amendment. All enquiries and other communications related to this tender sent throughout the solicitation period are to be directed ONLY to the Sr. Contract Officer named above. Non-compliance with this requirement during the solicitation period can, for that reason alone, result in disqualification of a tender.
