     Global Affairs Canada (GAC), on behalf of the Government of Canada, has the mandate to plan, coordinate and implement Canada’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.

    Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is soliciting proposals from qualified organizations, firms or individuals leading a team of professionals (hereafter referred to as the Contractor) to conceive and produce the National Day and “Canada Week” Cultural Celebration component of Canada’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai which runs from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

    The successful Contractor will have significant experience and combined expertise in Canadian and international event production, artistic direction, and project management, and must be able to assume all aspects of project delivery, including research, concept development, artistic direction and curation, technical direction, project coordination, on-site management, pre- and post-production management, shipping, transportation and other tasks associated with the presentation of robust cultural celebrations that showcase the excellence, diversity, originality and relevance of Canada’s arts and culture to an international audience.

    The Expo 2020 Dubai theme, Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, and its subthemes Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability are the guiding axis through which the Expo Organizer and international participants will organize their programming to engage international visitors, both physically and virtually.

    Canada’s approach to Expo 2020 Dubai is inspired by its commitment to embracing diversity, inclusion and gender equality as the foundation to building a prosperous and inclusive nation. This core thematic will permeate throughout Canada’s participation.

    Canada’s overarching objectives for participation at Expo 2020 are to:

    • Diversify its international markets;
    • Attract foreign investment;
    • Promote Canadian innovation, tourism and education;
    • Garner support for Canadian initiatives, values and priorities on the world stage (such as social responsibility and its leadership in promoting gender equality);
    • Increase awareness and knowledge of Canada’s culture;
    • Deepen its relationship with the UAE and other countries in the region.

    Canada’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai will convey Canada as a leader, innovator and collaborator capable of offering solutions to global challenges; a leader in climate action and sustainable economies; and an ideal place for business, investment, education, tourism and immigration.
