The program was approved by the government in April 1974 and became known as the "Munitions Supply Program (MSP)". Subsequent decisions in 1976 (small arms) and 1978 (ammunition and associated stores) expanded program details. There are four Canada-based companies that are currently declared Strategic Sources and Centres of Excellence under the MSP. One of them is Colt Canada. Requirements: Canada intends to sole source the manufacturing of the New Canadian Ranger Rifle through a Manufacturing Licence Agreement to Colt Canada under the auspices of the MSP. Purpose of this LOI: Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) would like to advise weapon OEMs interested in bidding, to attend Colt Canada's Industry Day on 30 May 2014. General: This is neither a Call for Tenders nor a Request for Proposal (RFP), and no agreement or contract will be entered into with any contractor based on responses to this Request for Information (RFI). The issuance of this RFI is not to be considered in any way as a commitment by the Government of Canada, or as an authorization to companies to undertake any work that could be charged to Canada. Nor is this RFI to be considered a commitment to issue eventual RFPs or award eventual contracts. Canada shall not be bound by anything stated in this RFI. Canada reserves the right to change, at any time, all or any parts of its survey as deemed necessary. Should there be any change to the survey, companies that have expressed an interest in responding to this RFI will be advised. Delivery Date: Above-mentioned The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement. Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
