    Due to the very stringent time frame to complete this work the
    solicitation period has been  shortened. 
    
    PROJECT NUMBER/DESCRIPTION:  R.049195.126 -  Replacement of
    Altars, Memorial Chamber in the Peace Tower,  Centre Block,
    Parliament Buildings, 111 Wellington Street, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A9
    
    INTRODUCTION
    The Memorial Chamber in the Peace Tower of the Parliament
    Buildings is Canada's most sacred place to commemorate Canadians
    who have fallen in battle. The objective of this project is to
    replace the six (6) wooden altars which currently hold the
    additional Books of Remembrance with new free-standing altars
    designed to complement the sanctity of the Memorial Chamber. The
    Dominion Sculptor has created the design for the six (6) altars
    and is the artist of record.
    
    GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK:
    The work is to supply and install six (6) altar structures and
    will consist of the following speciality trade work: 
    -	Custom bronze and glass display cases;
    -	Bronze legs and decorative attachments using lost wax casting
    process;
    -	Cut and finish stone altar elements;
    -	Hand carve moulded stone profile and hand carve individual
    inscriptions on each altar to match existing font;
    -	Pre-assemble all elements in a shop in National Capital Region
    for review and approval of Departmental Representative;
    -	Deliver and set up on site.
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT:
    There will be no site visit.
