    PROJECT IDENTIFICATION:  
    Project # R.0050666.506. Macdonald-Cartier Bridge
    Rehabilitation. Macdonald-Cartier Bridge, Ottawa, Ontario /
    Gatineau, Quebec.
    
    PROJECT DESCRIPTON:    
    The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge Rehabilitation project located
    between Gatineau, QC and Ottawa, ON involves seismic retrofit of
    the bridge and the rehabilitation of deteriorating components,
    specifically the deck, sidewalks, lighting system, barriers,
    concrete surfaces of pillars and abutments.
    
    The project will require the successful Bidder to retain Quality
    Verification Engineers (QVE) throughout the contract period. QVE
    must be a Professional Engineer(s) licensed in both the
    Provinces of Ontario and Quebec and qualified to provide the QVE
    services specified in the Contract Documents. The QVE should
    have extensive experience directly related to the work for which
    Certificate of Conformance will be issued.  Please Refer to
    section 01 45 00 - Quality Control for more information.
    
    Be informed that the city of Ottawa is currently conducting work
    for the "Sussex Drive Reconstruction Project, and Sussex Drive
    Bridge Rehabilitation Project, St. Patrick Street to King Edward
    Avenue - contract number ISD12-5197".
    Overview - The project involves the comprehensive rehabilitation
    of the portion of Sussex Drive from St. Patrick Street to King
    Edward Avenue, including the rehabilitation and seismic bearing
    retrofit of the Sussex Drive Bridge. The project also involves
    the construction of a roundabout to replace the stop controlled
    intersection at the Sussex Drive to King Edward Avenue off-ramp
    at the Union Street intersection. All streetscaping and
    boulevard work is to be done to National Capital Commission
    (NCC) Confederation Boulevard standards.
    Schedule - Road and Sewer works to commence in October 2013 and
    to proceed into the entirety of 2014. Sussex Drive Bridge
    rehabilitation work to commence in November 2013 with jacking
    and rehabilitation underneath structure and bearing retrofit to
    be completed prior to May 1st, 2014. Sussex Drive Bridge surface
    rehabilitation to proceed for remainder of 2014.

    Work for this project is to be completed within one hundred and
    four (104) weeks after contract award. The estimated cost for
    this opportunity is $5,000,001.00 and above.
    
    MANDATORY SECURITY REQUIREMENT:   
    This procurement contains a mandatory security requirement. At
    bid closing, the Bidder must hold a valid Designated
    Organization Screening (DOS). Failure to comply with this
    requirement will render the Bid non-compliant and no further
    consideration will be given to the Bid.
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT:  
    There will be a site visit on January 21, 2014 at 09:30 a.m..
    Interested bidders shall meet at the Best Western Hotel and
    conference center, 131 Laurier St, Gatineau, Qc - Alexandra
    conference room.
    
    It is mandatory that all persons attending the site visit have
    the proper safety attire. Safety footwear, hard hats, vests and
    glasses are required. Bidders personnel/individuals who do not
    have the proper safety attire will be denied access to the site.
