    The work under this contract involves the supply of all labour, materials, permits and equipment required for Civil, Demolition and Site Work at Springhill Institution, as described in the project drawings and in the specification for Springhill, NS.
    
    Work includes but is not limited to:
    
    1. Civil Works on Building 10
    a. Remove, relocate and cap water, sprinkler lines, storm, sanitary lines etc. as per Drawings.
    b. Relocate/Terminate water line and connect to existing supply.
    c. Install New Domestic water to Building #8.
    d. Drawings to review but not necessarily limited to are L-101, L-102, L103, L-104, A-101, C-101, E-100, E-101, E-102 & E103. 
    e. Refer to Divisions 00, 01, 02, 31, 32 and 33 in Specifications. 
    f. Please review complete Drawing set, Specifications, & Appendix A-H for full scope. 
    g. Refer to Appendix A, Hazardous Building Materials Assessment.
    h. The Contractor may be required to provide, erect, and maintain necessary barricades and signage, and will take all necessary precautions for the protection of the work and the safety of the staff and public.
    
    2. Site Works
    a. All excavations and backfilling as per drawings.
    b. Complete building demolition and removal of materials
    c. Excavations for duct banks, and associated equipment, etc.
    d. New Asphalt, repairs and removals.
    e. Top soil and hydro-seeding and repair work as required.
    f. Drawings to review but not necessarily limited to are L-101, L-102, L103, L-104, A-101, C-101, E-100, E-101, E-102 & E103. 
    g. Refer to Divisions 00, 01, 02, 31, 32 and 33 in Specifications.
    h. Please review complete Drawing set, Specifications, & Appendix A-H for full scope. 
    i. Refer to Appendix A, Hazardous Building Materials Assessment.
    j. The Contractor may be required to provide, erect, and maintain necessary barricades and signage, and will take all necessary precautions for the protection of the work and the safety of the staff and public.
    
    3. Asbestos Removal for Building 10
    a. Remove and dispose of Asbestos/Hazardous material. Provide necessary certification and reports that the hazardous materials have been disposed of using approved procedures, methods and practices.
    b. Conduct all testing for all abatement work.
    c. Review all Drawings, Specifications, & Appendix A-H for full scope. 
    d. Refer to Appendix A, Hazardous Building Materials Assessment. 
    e. Refer to Division 00, 01, & 02 in Specifications.
    f. The Contractor may be required to provide, erect, and maintain necessary barricades and signage, and will take all necessary precautions for the protection of the work and the safety of the staff and public.
    
    4. Other related info:
    a. Any technical questions related to Scope of Work after contract award, are to be directed to CORCAN Construction.  CORCAN Construction will be acting as the General Contractor on site as there will be 3 contracts being fulfilled on the same site at the same time.  Site Coordination, Safety and Schedule of work to be coordinated through the Project Authority, CORCAN Construction.  The Project Authority contact information will be noted on the Contract Award document.
    b. The Contractor will ensure that all applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and ensure that all workers and authorized personnel are notified of and abide by the safety rules, regulations, safe work practices and applicable Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes.
    c. The Contractor undertakes and agrees to comply with all applicable standing orders or other regulations in force on the site where the Work is to be performed, relating to the safety of persons on the site or the protection of property against loss or damage from any and all causes including fire.
    d. Institutional Security shall have the right to have any of the Contractor’s employees removed from the project site or work location for reason of security concerns.
    
    All work is to be performed in accordance with the plans and specifications for Project Number: -R.083508.001 forming part of the bid document.
    
    Site of Work is at: Building 10 - Springhill Institution, Springhill, NS
    
    An Optional Site Visit will be held at Springhill Institution located at, 330 Mc Gee Street, Springhill, NS, on June 26, 2018 at 1:15 p.m. Contractors are asked to meet at the main entrance of the Institution and photo ID is required to enter.  Bidders that are planning to participate in this Site Visit are asked to contact the Contracting Authority mentioned below to confirm their attendance; no later than one (1) working day prior to the Site Visit.  Cellphones, cameras and tabacco are not permitted on site.  Pictures will be provided upon request.
    
    The estimate for this opportunity is within the following cost category:  $500,000 - $1, 000,000.00 (HST extra).
    
    The Contractor must perform and complete the work within 42 weeks and will be required to be on contract for the entire duration of the project. 
     
    New measures related to integrity provisions included in the solicitation documents requires attention.
    
    A public bid opening will be held at the Bid Receiving Unit, 3 Queen Street, Charlottetown, PE.

Inquiries are to be made in writing and should be received no less than five (5) calendar days prior to the closing date to allow sufficient time to respond.     Standard bid and contract security for construction is required.
