Public Works and Government Services has a requirement for the masonry and concrete repairs of the Carleton Martello Tower, a National Historic Site and Federally Designated Building operated by Parks Canada. The work includes, but is not limited to, the following: Systemic repointing repair and/or rebuilding of selected areas of exterior walls, reconstruction of stone masonry outer wythe in dismantled area, execution of in-depth exploratory openings, dismantling of bulged areas, coredrilling of holes for investigative purposes, sounding of interior brick masonry ceiling, rebuilding core of wall where work was completed and joint sealing and repairs of concrete surfaces. All work is to be performed in accordance with the plans and specifications for PWGSC Project Number R.032768.003 forming part of the bid document. The contract completion is fifteen (15) weeks after contract award. It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the Bidder visit the work site and examine the Scope of the Work required and the existing conditions. There will be an optional site visit on July 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm. All interested bidders are to meet at the main entrance of the Martello Tower, 454 Whipple Street, Saint John, New Brunswick. Although not mandatory, all contractors wishing to submit a tender for this work are encouraged to attend to become familiar with all aspects of the work. Any clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation resulting from the site visit will be included as an amendment to the bid solicitation. New measures related to Code of Conduct and certifications included in the solicitation documents requires attention. A public bid opening will be held at the Bid Receiving Unit, Room 421, 189 Prince William Street, Saint John, N.B. The estimated cost for this opportunity is within the following category: $250,001 - $500,000 (HST included). Inquiries are to be made in writing and should be received no less than five (5) calendar days prior to the closing date to allow sufficient time to respond. Standard bid and contract security for construction is required. Firms intending to submit tenders on this project should obtain tender documents through the Government Electronic Tendering System (GETS). Addenda, when issued, will be available on GETS. Standard terms and conditions for this procurement are incorporated by reference, and form part of the tender and contract documents.
