Title: Update on Randle Reef Sediment Remediation Project - January 2017 

Description:   
PWGSC wishes to inform the community of the current status of the Randle Reef Sediment Remediation Project and the upcoming tender of Stage 2 of the project.  In the summer of 2014, PWGSC consulted with industry experts to help determine options to advance the project. Following the consultation, a Facilitation Report was issued (see February 2015 Update here https://buyandsell.gc.ca/procurement-data/tender-notice/PW-PWL-003-1992 ) and modifications were made to the project design.  In 2015 Stage 1 (Engineered Containment Facility (ECF) Construction) was successfully tendered and awarded.  The Stage 1 contract is currently on schedule to be completed in December 2017.

Stage 2 of the project involves the hydraulic dredging of contaminated sediments with placement inside the ECF, treatment of the decant water from the dredged material, and placement of thin layer backfill/capping over some of the work area. Stage 2 is expected to be tendered in early 2017 with site work expected to commence in early 2018, following the completion of the Stage 1 contract.
