    IMPORTANT NOTICE TO SUPPLIERS RE. BID SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
    
    Due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, temporary measures are being taken on-site at the Ontario Region Bid Receiving Unit to encourage social distancing. The health and safety of staff and suppliers remains our top priority. 
    
    As an alternative to hard copy bids, suppliers may submit bids electronically using the Canada Post epost Connect application for the subject bid solicitation. This service allows suppliers to submit bids, offers and arrangements electronically to PWGSC Bid Receiving Units. This online service enables the electronic transfer of large files up to Protected B level. Please refer to SI05 Submission of Bid for additional details. Bidders should also note the requirements set out in SI04 Bid Security Requirements.

    PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK:  
    
    The work comprises of pier, and fender rehabilitation of Wasauksing Swing Bridge, located at Parry Sound, Ontario. The Wasauksing Swing Bridge provides access for vehicles crossing the South Channel of Parry Sound between Seguin Township and Parry Island. The bridge is an operating movable bridge that permits the passage of navigation traffic through the South Channel.
    
    The work under this Contract includes: reconstruction of the timber fender system, concrete repairs on the piers, reconstruction of the ballast wall with replacement of the joint armouring, localized timber repairs to the timber cribbing foundations, installation of pile jackets, shimming between the piles and cap beams and the stringers and cap beams, localized replacement of timber bracing, replacement of truss ladder, steel repairs within the drum girder and installation of new fender lights on the piers and timber fender system.
    
    THERE WILL NOT BE A SITE VISIT FOR THIS INVITATION TO TENDER.
    
    CONSTRUCTION TIME
    
    The Contractor must perform and complete the Work 30 weeks from the date of notification of acceptance of the offer.

Addenda, when issued, will be available from GETS. Firms that elect to base their bids on tender documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their intention to bid.

    PROCUREMENT STRATEGY FOR ABORIGINAL BUSINESS 
    
    This procurement has been set aside under the federal government's Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB). For more information on Aboriginal business requirements of the Set-aside Program for Aboriginal Business see Annex 9.4 of the Supply Manual.
    
    In order to be considered, a supplier must certify that it qualifies as an Aboriginal business as defined under PSAB and that it will comply with all requirements of PSAB. 
    Pursuant to Section 800 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), the CFTA does not apply to this procurement.
    
    LETTER FROM THE CHIEF OF WASAUKSING
    
    In order to be considered, the bidder must submit with its bid a letter from Wasauksing signed by the Chief of Wasauksing, providing access to complete work on Wasauksing Land for the Wasauksing Swing Bridge Pier and Fender project. Failure to provide this information by bid closing will render the bid non-responsive and given no further consideration.
