Description of the Requirement:

Transport Canada (TC) is seeking a professional services to implement the next phase of a Canadian Centre of Expertise on Rail Research (CERR) to advance the understanding and adoption of innovative technologies and solutions that will improve the safety, efficiency, and environmental performance of the rail sector as well as address the needs of industry including assessing the risks facing railway operations.


The work to be carried out will include establishing research themes and priorities through annual consultation exercises with the Railway Research Advisory Board (RRAB) and TC; carrying out research activities aligned with the identified priorities with active industry, government, and research organizations collaboration; supporting the development of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) in rail research; disseminating research results by maintaining a website that provides access to all research publications and annual presentations to the RRAB and other fora, as appropriate; and conducting additional analysis, research, literature review, reporting and or presentations to address emerging research priorities on an "as requested" basis through Task Authorizations.

The resulting contract will be for a one(1) year period with five (5) additional one (1) year option periods.
