Description
Trade Agreement: NAFTA/AIT/Canada-Peru FTA/Canada-Colombia FTA Tendering Procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid Attachment: None Competitive Procurement Strategy: N/A - P&A/LOI Only Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: No Nature of Requirements: To supply, install and support an Earth Observation Access and Data Management Solution including, applicable licences, annual maintenance and support for Natural Resources Canada XL 23240-120534 McHugh, Russ Telephone No. - (819) 956-1248 Fax No. - (819) 953-3703 A Request for Information (RFI) issued by Public Works and Government Services Canada on behalf of Natural Resources Canada, is seeking information from Industry regarding the use of a turnkey COTS system(s)/application(s) as an archival access and data management solution including software, applicable licences, annual maintenance and support. NRCan, through the Canada Centre for remote sensing (CCRS), is seeking to procure a vendor solution for a COTS archival access and data management solution and the necessary services for the implementation, testing, training and required configuration of the product. In addition, any proposed vendor is required to provide on-going maintenance and support for the duration of the contract period including any option years. The RFI is intended only to solicit feedback from industry with respect to the matters described in the RFI. Background During the past 40 years, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) has built the most significant EO data archive in Canada. Its current EO data collections amount to over 800 TB ranging from Landsat MSS, TM and ETM+, ERS-1 and 2 SAR, Envisat ASAR and MERIS, NOAA, and RADARSAT-1 and 2. Archives of additional satellite sensor data and/or products are planned for the future. CCRS is responsible for making current and archived EO data available to the GoC, industry (e.g. MDA) as well as international clients. CCRS' long-term global objective for an archive and access solution is for the broad promotion and extensive use by the consumer of CCRS' archived EO optical and radar data and data products. Furthermore, the aim is to focus on user community needs by increasing catalogue search-ability and data/product accessibility, and to keep Canada at the leading edge of accessing, sharing and using geospatial information via the Internet by introducing and maintaining state-of-art infrastructure, and implementing interoperable solutions and applications for use by major international collaborators/clients. . CCRS has been renewing itself by investing in new technologies as well as by investigating new operational models in order to better serve GoC and Canadian needs. The successful completion of CCRS EO data archive migration to Booth Street in April of 2010 was the first step in the transformation of the CCRS archive service from a standard mission archiving operation to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for access. With this renewed ingest and archival storage architecture in place, CCRS is currently seeking information from industry regarding the use of a turnkey COTS system(s)/application(s) as an archival access and data management solution. This proposed solution would interface with current infrastructure in order to meet the overall archive and access solution objectives, and easily support long term scalability for the addition of future missions. The functional requirements for this solution are described in the proposed statement of work. Delivery Date: Above-mentioned The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement. Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
