NRCan is an established leader in science and technology in the fields of energy, minerals, metals, forestry and earth sciences. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has a requirement for the services of patent agents and trademark agents on an "as and when requested basis", to protect its Intellectual Property (IP). NRCan has approximately 75 IP Files (family) and receives on average approximately 15 new invention disclosures per year. The Work will consist of: -conducting prior art and novelty searches and providing patentability opinions on new IP Files; -conducting freedom to operate searches and assessments, as required; -providing IP advice, opinions, and strategies to NRCan; -filing for patent protection in various countries; -complete filings related to existing patent applications; -conducting trademark searches and providing opinion on search results; -preparing and filing trademark registrations; -completing registrations related to existing trademark files, if required; -completing and filing copyright registrations; -providing guidance and assistance on potential infringement issue; -successfully prosecuting patent applications and trademark and copyright registrations and maintaining IP protection on the IP Files throughout the life of the patent or registration period by undertaking appropriate actions and payment of fees as required; and -providing related IP protection services and other miscellaneous protection related activities, as requested. The period of the Contract is from date of Contract to March 31, 2013 inclusive with an irrevocable option to extend the term of the Contract by up to 24 additional 1-year periods. Canada may award up to 5 contracts. This procurement is conditionally limited to Canadian services. The Comprehensive Land Claims Agreements (CLCA) are not applicable since the services will not be provided within CLCA Settlement Areas. There is no security requirement associated with the requirement. Pursuant to section 01 of Standard Instructions 2003, a Consent to a Criminal Record Verification form, must be submitted with the bid, by the bid solicitation closing date, for each individual who is currently on the Bidder's Board of Directors. Delivery Date: Above-mentioned The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement. Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
