    Project Description

    Harry Hachey Conference Center was built in 1910 originally as Cottage #1 and #2, and has been deteriorating for the last 100 years. The main floor now consists of a large conference room, a kitchenette, an equipment room, and a male and female washroom located at the northeast and southeast corner of the building. This building will be renovated to relocate the male washroom to adjacent to the female washroom, to improve the function of other rooms, and to make the Harry Hachey Conference Center at St Andrews Biological Station up to building standard architecturally, mechanically and electrically, also the heating system will be upgraded.

    Scope of Work

    • Remove existing doors, frames and all associated hardware as indicated on the drawings.
    • Install new doors and associated hardware as shown on the drawings.
    • Disconnect, remove and replace domestic hot and cold water piping, remove and replace all existing radiant heaters, all plumbing fixtures , thermostat, etc as indicated on the drawings.
    • Install 11 new floor boxes complete with duplex electrical receptacles, data outlets and associated wiring as indicated on the drawings.
    • Other minor architectural, electrical and mechanical work shown on the drawings.
    • Testing and commissioning the electrical and mechanical system as required in the Specifications.
    • Provide temporary supports as necessary
    • Provide structural remediation where indicated on the drawings
    • Remove surplus materials, waste products, clean any/all areas involved in the contract daily and upon completion of construction.

    Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29.06 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
