The work covered under this project consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for Wharf Reconstruction at Phillips Head, NL In general, work under this contract will consist of but will not necessarily be limited to the following: 1. Demolition and removal of existing finger pier timber crib wharf and concrete launchway as indicated. Existing finger pier has a timber deck. 2. Dredge existing harbour bottom to depths of 1.5 m below L.N.T. in all areas as indicated. 3. Excavation of cribseat to elevations indicated. 4. Supply and installation of new timber crib finger pier wharf complete with reinforced concrete deck. 5. Supply and installation of new wheelguard, fender system, ladders and mooring cleats as indicated. 6. Re-grade existing site to accommodate surface runoff and new lauchway. 7. Construction of a new reinforced concrete lauchway with timber toe crib. 8. Construction of a new wharf approach consisting of the supply and installation of rock fill, Class A’ and Class B’ as indicated. 9. Supply and install rip rap as indicated. 10. Contractor shall present methodology of how they plan to perform the work to Departmental Representative for review and approval before the start of work. Methodology shall bear the stamp of a professional engineer registered to practice in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification section on Health and Safety before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid. Bidders must refer to R2710T (2021-04-01) GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS -CONSTRUCTION SERVICES for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement.
