BID SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS Due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, temporary measures are being taken on-site at the Pacific Region Bid Receiving Unit to encourage social distancing. Note to Tenderers: Drawings and Specifications are now available for viewing and downloading in a Portable Document Format (PDF) or in a standard paper version. Tenderers should note that Attachment File(s)contains the Drawings and Specifications Package (DSP) which consists of PDF files organized in an industry recognized directory structure. Work Description: Work to be performed under this Contract generally comprises of the demolition of existing boardwalk, and supply and install of a new boardwalk at Vaseux-Bighorn National Wildlife Area, located on Highway 97 (5 km south of Okanagan Falls and approximately 15 km north of Oliver). As part of the trail development, a new wheelchair accessible boardwalk will be built to replace the existing boardwalk which is over a wetland and sensitive habitat. The current boardwalk on Vaseux Lake ends at a bird blind which is a popular birding destination, especially during spring and summer. Removal and construction must be done uninterruptedly to ensure minimum time that the bird blind will not be accessible by public. The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, materials, and equipment, required to demolish the existing boardwalk and the installation of the new accessible boardwalk as per drawings and specifications. The boardwalk must be the same length as the existing boardwalk which is approximately 195 m long. Removal and construction needs to be done in a manner to comply with requirements under the Migratory Birds Convention Act and the Fisheries Act. Work to be done under this Contract includes, but is not limited to, the following items covered further in the Contract documents: 1. Mobilization; 2. Protection of the natural environment; 3. Surveying to confirm alignment; 4. Removal of existing boardwalk. Viewing structure to remain; 5. Supply and installation of piling, including geotechnical services and test piles; 6. Supply and installation of timber walkway including all labour and materials; 7. Clean up and demobilization. Work will be performed in accordance with the contract schedules within the scope of work. Optional Site Visit: There is NO scheduled site visit however the site is open to the public. Delivery Date: The work shall commence immediately upon official notification of acceptance of tender by the Contracting Authority and is to be completed by March 31, 2021. Firms that elect to base their bids on tender (solicitation) documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their intention to bid. In all cases, bidders must indicate (when requested) in the space provided on the tender form the identification number(s)of the addenda, if any, that they have taken into consideration for their bid. Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and to encourage physical distancing, the bid receiving unit in Vancouver will remain open but with limited staff and limited hours: Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm (Pacific Standard Time). Public tender openings will be suspended until further notice. Following solicitation closing, bid results will be recorded and may be obtained by e-mailing a request to the address indicated in the Invitation to Tender.
