Use this checklist to prepare to register on SAP Business Network

Article-424

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) has a suite of online procurement services called CanadaBuys, which includes the web-based tool called SAP Business Network.

Use this handy checklist to gather all the information you need to register your business in SAP Business Network to begin selling to PSPC. Getting everything together beforehand will save you time and make registration a snap!

Keep in mind that you can only have one SAP Business Network account per Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number.

If you have created more than one SAP business account under the same CRA business number, contact the CanadaBuys Service Desk. Let them know which account you’ll be using to do business with the Government of Canada, and they’ll deactivate any other accounts. Deactivated accounts will be removed from the CanadaBuys system, but will remain on the SAP Business Network.

On this page:

Visit our SAP Business Network registration page when you’re ready to get started with the self-registration process. Be sure to use this link as it gives you access to all the fields you will need to fill out to complete your Government of Canada profile.

If you have any questions during this process you can call, email, or chat with the CanadaBuys Service Desk.

Basic company information

First, you’ll be asked to enter some basic information to create a company profile. A company profile will allow you to view tender opportunities. Here is what you’ll need:

  • business’s legal name
  • street address
  • city
  • province
  • postal code
  • country

Note: You must enter your business’s legal name while registering. If you are unsure of your business’s legal name, you can use the Government of Canada’s GST/HST Registry Search to verify that you have entered the name registered with the CRA.

Next, decide who the main user of your account will be. This person’s name, email address and phone number will be visible to Government of Canada buyers on your company profile. This person can also choose to receive all account notifications. You will be able to add other users to the account once you’re all set up. The information needed is:

  • first and last name
  • email address
  • username
  • password
  • email address for notifications and orders (if different from main email address)

General business questions

To fill out the Government of Canada’s required questionnaire, you’ll need:

  • general business information (choose the industry that corresponds to your main business activity)
  • type of business
  • names of current owners, directors, trustees or partners, as well as the positions they hold
  • Indigenous Business Directory (IBD) registration, if applicable
  • official documents for environmental performance information (if applicable, such as ISO 14064)
  • links to sustainable suppliers’ rating systems (such as ISO 14025)

There are also sections in the questionnaire where you can choose to identify as a member of one or more equity-deserving groups in procurement. These sections are voluntary.

Your personal information is stored following the Privacy Act.

To finalize your registration, you must enter this next set of information. Here’s what you’ll need:
