    Work under this contract consists of:
    1. Supply and Installation of storm sewers and manholes
    2. Common excavation, granulars and Hot mix Asphalt Paving
    3. Construction of concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk
    4. Pavement Markings and signage
    5. Landscaping and Hydroseeding
    6. Underground Street Lighting
    7. Removal of asphalt
    
    Site of Work is the Springhill Institution, Springhill, Nova
    Scotia. All work is to be completed in accordance with the
    Drawings and Specifications for PWGSC Project number
    R.043943.001.
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
    It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the
    Bidder visit the work site and examine the Scope of the Work
    required and the existing conditions. There will be an optional
    site visit on June 28, 2012 at 10:00 am.  All interested bidders
    are to meet at building A-1 (first building on the right as you
    enter the institution) at the Springhill Institution,
    Springhill, Nova Scotia. Although not mandatory, all contractors
     wishing to submit a tender for this work are encouraged to
    attend to become familiar with all aspects of the work. Any
    clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation resulting from
    the site visit will be included as an amendment to the bid
    solicitation.
    Note: If you plan to attend the site visit, please confirm your
    attendance to Alison Ellis-Herring by e-mail at
    alison.ellis-herring@pwgsc.gc.ca or by fax at (506) 636-4376 by
    no later than 2:00 pm on June 26, 2012. If you do not confirm
    your attendance, you will not be permitted to visit the site.
    
    
    A public bid opening will be held at the Bid Receiving Unit,
    Room 421, 189 Prince William Street, Saint John, N.B.
    
    Work to be completed within sixteen (16) weeks after contract
    award.
    
    The estimated cost for this opportunity is within the following
    category: $1,000,001 -         $2,500,000 (HST extra).

    Standard bid and contract security for construction is required.
    
    Pursuant to GC6 - Delays and Changes in Work of the General
    Conditions, the resulting construction contract will include the
    provisions for changes in the work at the request of the
    Departmental Representative.  
    
    
    Drawings and Specifications are now available for viewing and
    downloading in a Portable Document Format (PDF) or in a standard
    paper version. Bidders should note that Attachment 1 (ATT 1)
    contains the Drawings and Specifications Package (DSP) which
    consists of PDF files organized in an industry recognized
    directory structure.
    
    Firms intending to submit tenders on this project should obtain
    tender documents through the MERX services provider.  Addenda,
    when issued, will be available from the MERX provider.  Firms
    that elect to base their bids on tender documents obtained from
    other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely
    responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their
    intention to bid.

    incorporated by reference, and form part of the tender and
    contract documents.  The standard documents are issued by Public
    Works and Government Services and may be viewed on the MERX
    electronic bulletin board as part of the information module.
