    Due to the remoteness and the location of the PSPC operated section of the Alaska Highway which passes through the traditional territories of the First Nations belonging to the Treaty 8 Tribal Association (primarily the southern section of the Highway) as well as the traditional territories of the First Nations belonging to the Daylu Dena Council (primarily the northern section of the Highway), bidders are encouraged to employ the available local workforce and utilize other locally available resources and equipment.     Work Description: 
    Work under this Contract covers repairs to the MacDonald Creek Bridge, located at Km 628 of the Alaska Highway. For reference, the town of Fort Nelson, BC is at approximately Km 454 of the Alaska Highway. There are two primary scopes of work to be carried out as part of this project. 
    
    1) Concrete repairs: concrete repairs involve removal of deteriorated concrete and patching with new concrete. The Contractor is to design the patch repair in accordance with the performance-based specification. 
    
    2) Bearing End Posts: for each bearing location a portion of the existing vertical end post web is to be removed along with the existing bearing assembly and replaced with a new disc bearing and connection to existing vertical post, including: 
    
    - Remove portion of the existing end post web plate and install new steel stood and pedestal.
    - Remove existing steel rocker and fixed bearings and install new steel disc bearings.
    - Prepare bearing seat for new stool.
    - Install new steel cover plate in the end floor beam bottom flange and new jacking stiffener. 
    - Jacking the bridge to allow removal of existing bearing and installation of new bearing. 
    - Coating of structural steelwork. 
    
    Site Visit: 
    There is no scheduled site visit. However, it is recommended that bidders visit the site prior to submitting a tender for this work, and to make inquiries or investigations necessary to become thoroughly acquainted with the site, as well as the nature and extent of the work.
    
    Delivery Date: 
    The Contractor shall perform and complete the Work by October 31, 2018.

    To assist with bonding and insurance requirements, this project is estimated to cost between $475,000 and $525,000.
