SCOPE OF WORK
Work included in this mandate consists in the fabrication of a 36m steel tower, the demolition of the existing concrete foundation, the dismantling of the existing steel tower, the building of the concrete foundation, the mounting and installation of the new steel structure and its accessories. All the material should be disposed in the appropriate way.
The existing tower at Pointe des Grondines RL to be dismanteled is 30,48m (100ft) high and the new structure to be installed is 36m (118ft).
To be more precise, the work to be done can be resumed as follows but are not limited to:
- Tower fabrication: it should be realised in accordance with the specifications described and the dimensions should respect the workshop drawings provided;
- Mobilisation, demobilisation and support during construction;
- Installation, power supply and maintenance of a positioning light on a temporary structure at the choice of the Contractor (plans signed and sealed by an engineer member of the OIQ and submitted and approved by the CCG). The temporary lantern shall be maintained in place until the new structure is erected and the permanent lantern is fully functional. The Canadian Coast Guard’s geomatics department will assist the Contractor in the temporary fire alignment. The lantern will be provided by the Department;
- Installation of a temporary protection fence to secure the excavation;
- Disconnection of existing power supplies;
- Retrieval of existing electrical installations;
- Dismantling, demolition and disposal of the existing reinforced concrete tower and foundation;
- Construction of the new reinforced concrete foundation with rock anchor Provide all means necessary for compliance with the plans and specifications;
- Mounting and installation of the tower and required accessories including the installation of a safety rail complying with CCG requirements (Cougar Trylon);
- Mounting and installation of the new aluminum day mark at the top of the new tower;
- Installation of power supply and lantern, including grounding;
- Installation of antennas;
- Supply and installation of permanent fencing;
- Site Cleanup and Restoration;
- Production of "As Built" Plans and Short Photographic Report.

The site is accessible by land. From the Church of Grondines, drive west on Route 138 for 0.3 km., to the road leading to the Quai de Grondines. The navigation light is 0.5 km south of Route 138.
