    Description of requirement

The Passport Technology and Information Services Branch (PTISB)
will need to ensure that a full complement of resources are
available to maintain the current passport issuance system, while
(CIC) migrates to a new passport issuance solution.
Consequently, PTISB needs to have consultants available to
assist as required on IRIS maintenance and support as well as on
    various IT priority projects.

IRIS is the main component of the passport issuing system. It is
a custom legacy system comprised of a complex suite of
applications used by CIC's Passport Program to process and issue
Canadian passports. Used in all Passport offices across Canada,
IRIS is a thick-client application, comprised of a main client
that runs on the end user's desktop and a family of various
Supplementary Applications (Supp Apps) that connect to a backend
database system. IRIS was mainly written in PowerBuilder,
however some new components have been written in .NET

In order to meet changing operational needs, the Passport
program is undergoing a series of business transformation
initiatives including, among others, the integration of the
passport issuing system to Global Case Management System (GCMS).
As a result, the CIC Passport Program's Business Solutions
Development division (PPBS) is under pressure to maintain the
legacy issuing system until the transition is completed.

The scope of this requirement is to provide information
technology (IT) professional services to address system
maintenance and enhancements related to the CIC Passport
Program's IRIS family suite of applications and priority IT
    projects.

As such, CIC - Passport Program has identified a need for a team
of experienced consultants in support of this requirement.
