Public Works and Government Services Canada has a requirement for the construction of a fire pump building including an underground cistern, extension of the existing generator building and supply and installation of a new generator and all associated piping and conduits.

Work will involve but not limited to the following.  The excavation and installation of a concrete foundation/cistern and the construction of a wood timber fire pump building and the supply, installation, start-up and commissioning of new fire pumps.  Site work will involve the trenching for water piping and electrical conduits.  

The fire suppression piping is stubbed outside of the existing visitor Centre along with the electrical generator conduit.  The existing fire suppression piping from the existing cistern(s) (to be decommissioned and removed) to the Green Gables House will be redirected to the new cistern.  The existing fire suppression system will remain active throughout the construction and installation of the new system.  
The fire pump in the basement of the Green Gables House will be removed and turned over to the owner.  The existing generator building will have an expansion built onto it and the supply, installation, start-up and commissioning of a new generator.  The existing generator will be turned over to the owner.  The access road will be reinstated as part of the contract.

All work is to be performed in accordance with the plans and specifications for PWGSC Project Number R.081199.001 forming part of the bid document.  The Contractor shall perform and complete on or before July 31st, 2020.

It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the Bidder visit the work site and examine the Scope of the Work required and the existing conditions. There will be an optional site visit on Monday, March 9th, 2020 at 1:00 pm.  Interested bidders are to meet at the main entrance of Green Gables, 8619 Cavendish Road. Interested bidders should provide name(s) of those attending in writing to the Contracting Authority named below no later than Monday, March 6th, 2020 at 4:00 pm.

Although not mandatory, all contractors wishing to submit a tender for this work are encouraged to attend to become familiar with all aspects of the work. Bidders who do not attend or send a representative will not be given an alternative appointment but they will not be precluded from submitting a bid. Any clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation resulting from the site visit will be included as an amendment to the bid solicitation.

NOTE:  In case of Inclement Weather on this date, suppliers must call Leesa Young, Supply Officer, at 506-871-1716.  A message on the voice mailbox will advise if the Site Visit is cancelled or not.  If it is, an alternate date will also be provided.


The estimated cost for this opportunity is within the following cost category: $1,000,001 to $5,000,000 (HST extra). Standard bid and contract security for the construction is required.
