    Description of the Work
    
    The project consists of rehabilitation work in a Historic Building located in Ottawa, ON. The project is split into nine packages. The General Contractor shall supply, install and commission the equipment as outlined in the tender documents.
    
    Package # 1: Elevator Replacement
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to: replacement of a hydraulic elevator c/w all related components; modifications to the roof to accommodate an extension of the elevator shaft; various related architectural, electrical, structural and mechanical work.
    
    Package # 2: Chilled Water Line Extension
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to: replacement/extension of a chilled water loop; removal of an existing chiller and associated piping and wiring; various related architectural, electrical and mechanical work.
    
    Package # 3: Kitchen Exhaust Fan & HVAC Systems Upgrade
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to: replacement of a kitchen hood exhaust fan, air handling unit and make-up air unit supplying a commercial kitchen; various related architectural, electrical, structural and mechanical work.
    
    Package # 4: Pantry Cooling System Upgrades
    Work of this package generally consist of, but is not limited to: removal of an air cooled fluid cooler, heat pumps, fan coil unit, chilled water piping, glycol piping, ductwork and related equipment; installation of a new roof top unit, VAV boxes, ductwork and diffusers; various related architectural, electrical, structural and mechanical work.
    
    Package # 5: Domestic Hot Water System Replacement
    Work of this package generally consist of, but is not limited to: removal of a domestic hot water heater, DHW storage tank and related equipment; modifications/extension to DHW piping and DHW recirculation lines; various related architectural and electrical work.
    
    Package # 6: Roof Replacement
    Work of this package generally consist of, but is not limited to: replacement of roofing on two flat roofs; removal of skylights; replacement of roof membranes, insulation, flashings, roof drains; installation of new curbs for fans and roof top units.
    
    Package # 7: Foundation Rehabilitation
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to: excavation, masonry repair, below grade drainage and insulation work, backfilling and rough grading, selective demolition, concrete work, stair construction and mechanical and electrical work.
    
    Package # 8: Cafeteria Rehabilitation
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to: selective demolition and hazardous materials abatement, and fit-up of a cafeteria.  Fit-up work includes Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical and Food Services components and systems.
    
    Package # 9: Basement Abatement
    Work of this package generally consists of, but is not limited to:  selective demolition and hazardous materials abatement.
    
    
    
    A MANDATORY site visit (for General Contractors intending on bidding to the NCC) will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 9:30am Ottawa time. The exact meeting place is the Princess Anne gate off of Princess Avenue near Rideau Hall, Ottawa, ON. All costs incurred by the Bidder to attend the site visit will be at their expense. The NCC will not reimburse any Bidder for expenses related to the site visit. To confirm your attendance at the site visit and to gain access to the grounds, please communicate with NCC Corporate Security at 613-239-5222 or securityscreening@ncc-ccn.ca at least 24 hours prior to the site visit. Please note that all visits to sensitive sites (official residences and Parliament Hill) shall be coordinated with, and approved by NCC Corporate Security. The site visit for this project is MANDATORY.  The representative of the Bidder will be required to sign the Site Visit Attendance Sheet at the site visit. Tenders submitted by Bidders who have not signed the attendance sheet will not be accepted. Subcontractors can also attend this first site visit.

    A NON MANDATORY site visit (for subcontractors) will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 9:30am Ottawa time. The exact meeting place is the Princess Anne gate off of Princess Avenue near Rideau Hall, Ottawa, ON. General Contractors who attended the mandatory site visit on January 19th  may also attend. All costs incurred by the subcontractor to attend the site visit will be at their expense. The NCC will not reimburse any subcontractors for expenses related to the site visit.     There is a public opening scheduled shortly after the bid closing time in room 306 at 40 Elgin Street, 3rd floor, Ottawa, ON.
    
    The procurement process of this tender is subject to Chapter 5 on the Agreement on Internal Trade.
